Can I get an STI from fingering?

You’re much less likely to get an STI from fingering than from having sex, but it is possible. Some STIs such as herpes are spread through skin-to-skin contact so if the finger has been in contact with an STI, it could get passed on. To avoid getting an STI from fingering, make sure your partner washes his or her hands before you start playing and stay away from any areas of broken skin.
